Saltburn has maintained much of its original charm as a Victorian seaside resort including its pier, the colourful Italian gardens and walks through Riftswood. Whatever you need to know about Saltburn by the Sea this is the place to start. Read the local news and add your own comments and views!
re Rev Benjamin Irvin am doing family research (for a friend) on this gentleman. Already have quite a lot of info but would welcome any local knowledge to fill in gaps. E.g. when he ceased to be vicar (?1913) he ended up in a hotel in Bournemouth where he died Nov 1915. His companion there was a Saltburn maiden lady, Maud Crosthwaite (b 1870) who Rev Benjamin adopted as his daughter.Would like more on this rather strange relationship, perhaps from Saltburn papers & church reports.Lots more queries - hope you can help.
