SALTBURN HERITAGE RAILWAY BUFFERS RETURN
Saltburn in Bloom have finally managed to get Network Rail to return the Victorian Railway buffers which were originally located on a track siding close to Saltburn Station. The buffers are a set of only 3 remaining examples of Victorian buffers left in the country which were removed under track improvements some 4 years ago. Saltburn in Bloom are planning to incorporate the buffers into a historic feature (no flowers) with an interpretation board describing their historic significance and other interesting features within Saltburn Station. The buffers were taken into storage at the Middlesbrough Depot and then moved to York. The buffers are now in storage with a local engineering firm whilst the group work towards finding a suitable location within the area of the Station to locate them.
SALTBURN CLIFF LIFT
To date unfortunately I have no definite date for this attraction to open, however ( can report that Rapidrail have completed the major refurbishment and construction of the Cliff Lift. The main issue at present that is causing the delay in opening is the interlocking system between the 2 lift stations. This is the electronic signalling that tells the driver when he can operate the carriages. The health and safety officer will not issue the LOLER certificate (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) until this is working correctly.
In the mean time there is a free daily shuttle bus running from the top of the Cliff Lift and the Lower Promenade.
NEW ROAD ONE WAY SYSTEM FOR ZETLAND TERRACE
As part of this year's safer streets programme, residents of Zetland Terrace have requested a one way system to be implemented. The proposal has been led by a resident through the safer streets process wth consultation undertaken (by the residents) as part of the process. All residents consulted have signed in favour of the scheme. Based on the consultation submitted it is now proposed to progress the scheme and begin the legal work required to implement the one way restriction which will include the road at the front of Zetland Terrace and the rear alley between Zetland Terrace and Hilda Place.
